March 3, 2010—Helping Haiti families one bucket at a time
University of North Florida student Joseph Lentz has been to Haiti five times, leading Bible schools, playing games with children and doling out peanut butter sandwiches and bags of rice.

March 3, 2010—Haiti donations come from the heart
JACKSONVILLE (FBC)—When Olivia Sim, age “four and three-quarters,” heard about “houses falling down in Haiti,” she told her mother she wanted to do something to help, suggesting they send money from the family’s coin jar where they collect surplus change.
As her mother pondered how to handle Olivia’s wishes, Susan Sim learned their church, MissionWay Community Church in Ponte Vedra, was collecting contributions in $20 increments to purchase bags of rice for a Haitian family. read more…
Feb. 24, 2010—Spiritual harvest reaps 40,127 Haitian salvations after earthquake
PORT-AU-PRINCE (FBC)—A reported 40,127 Haitians have made professions of faith in Jesus Christ since the Jan. 12 earthquake hit the impoverished nation, according to pastors and director of missions of the Confraternité Missionaire Baptiste d’Haiti (CMBH).
“Haiti is ripe for a spiritual movement from God,” said Craig Culbreth, director of the Florida Baptist Convention Partnership Missions Department, which coordinates the work of the CMBH, upon his Feb. 22 return from Port-au-Prince. read more…
Feb. 10, 2010—Haiti relief, 2010 CP budget revision dominate SBM meeting
LEESBURG (FBC)—Florida Baptists’ unprecedented response to Haiti’s devastating Jan. 12 earthquake and the reduction of the 2010 Cooperative Program budget by $1.65 million consumed much of the business conducted at the Feb. 5 State Board of Missions meeting at Lake Yale Baptist Conference Center.
In a report that outlined Florida’s leadership in the Southern Baptist earthquake response, John Sullivan, executive director-treasurer of the Florida Baptist Convention, explained that the Convention’s 15-year partnership with the Confraternité Missionaire Baptiste d’Haiti, which has spawned nearly 900 Baptist churches, has provided the structure and resources to minister in the aftermath of the disaster. read more...

PORT-AU-PRINCE (FBC)—Nearly a month after an earthquake ravaged the Port-au-Prince region of Haiti leaving 200,000 dead, stories of anguish and hope are rising from the rubble.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI (FBC)—Medical volunteers from Florida arrived in Haiti on Feb. 3 and haven't stopped working since. There is just too much to do.
It has been nearly one month since the massive earthquake shook this impoverished nation. Some estimates have placed the death-toll as high as 200,000. JACKSONVILLE (FBC)—John Sullivan, executive director of the Florida Baptist Convention, has called upon “the collected voices of Southern Baptists to pray for the hurting people of Haiti as they try to recover from one of the most devastating disasters in the Western Hemisphere.
The “Day of Prayer for Haiti,” set for Sunday, Feb. 14, seeks to ask for God’s mercy and strength as the Haitians heal from the Jan. 12 catastrophic earthquake that affected 3.5 million people and killed more than 200,000 men, women and children. read more...

PORT-AU-PRINCE (FBC)—Ten days after the Jan. 12 earthquake, Florida Baptist relief efforts in Haiti have expanded to five communities surrounding Port-au-Prince, as the devastated nation tries to recover.
