Theological classes announced for fall semester

Go to list of fall classes by location

Every Florida Baptist is only a two-hour drive away from accredited theological training through the Florida Baptist Convention’s theological and distance learning program.

Currently more than 500 students, both vocational ministers and lay leaders, are enrolled in the classes which are offered at seven sites across the state

Degree programs, provided in three languages—English, Spanish and French—are available through The Baptist College of Florida and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary at the associate, bachelor and graduate levels.

Fall classes start the week of Aug. 13 for BCF and the week of Aug. 20 for NOBTS. Because different sites meet on different days, prospective students should contact the local center director for specific instructions regarding application and registration.

A number of study options are available.

Students with a high school diploma or GED may pursue a church leadership certificate through NOBTS Leavell College. Students may earn a certificate by taking eight one-credit-hour classes in biblical teaching, pastoral ministry or church planting. Certificate hours may be transferable into an associate degree program. Certificate programs are currently offered at the following sites:

First Brazilian of Pompano Beach
Rosemary Decotelli 754-235-1299

Brevard Baptist Association
Ann Gates 321-631-0820

Emmanuel Church, North Miami
Wadler Jules 305-888-9777

Associate of divinity degrees may be pursued at extension centers in Pensacola, Jacksonville and Orlando through BCF.

Classes toward the associate in Christian ministry degree are available through centers in Brandon, Hialeah, and Fort Lauderdale through NOBTS Leavell College.

Bachelor’s degree programs are offered at several sites for students who have earned an associate degree or its equivalency from a regionally accredited institution. A bachelor of science in biblical studies may be pursued at extension centers in Pensacola, Jacksonville, and Orlando through BCF. Bachelor of Christian ministry degrees may be pursued at extension sites and centers in Hialeah and Fort Lauderdale through NOBTS Leavell College.

Students with earned bachelor degrees from a regionally accredited institution can work towards the master of divinity or master of arts in Christian education through NOBTS in Pensacola, Graceville, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Miami. Some travel to the New Orleans campus is necessary during the course of study.

Professional doctoral programs are offered to those who have earned a master of divinity or a master of arts in Christian education

Persons deciding which program of study might be right for them should contact the Office of Theological Education at (407) 514-4412 or the Center for the Americas at (305) 888-9777. The following is a list of specific classes being offered at each location.
