CELEBRATE
150 YEARS

During this year of 2004, Florida Baptists will observe the
150th anniversary since the founding of the Florida Baptist
State Convention.
It is a Year of Celebration!
The date was November 20, 1854, when a group of pioneer
Baptists gathered in Madison County, Florida, to discuss how
Baptists could work together to do missions and ministry more
effectively.
It was a historic event as God's people in faith laid the foundation
stones for a missions and ministry organization to provide the
means for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ within this young
state called Florida.
From those humble itinerant preachers who laid the foundation
stones of faith and hope, Florida Baptists—God's heirs
of promise—have become the one million-member Florida Baptist
State Convention. The 2,800 cooperating Baptist churches and
missions serve as guiding lights to their communities—founded
on a heritage of faith and commitment to the cause of Jesus
Christ.
The year 2004 is the occasion for Florida Baptists to celebrate,
to remember and to affirm their commitment and faithfulness
as God's heirs of promise.
Be a Part of the Celebration!
Make plans now to be a part of the excitement of the celebration
by attending a regional rally near you. To get the anniversary
celebration underway, a series of 14 regional
rallies are planned to be held all across Florida during
the months of February and March, 2004. Most of the rally locations
are within one hour driving distance for most Baptists.
What Time is It Held?
• Each rally will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
• There is no admission charge nor will an offering be
taken for this program.
• No advance registration is required.
What's Going to Happen?
• Each rally will feature an inspirational preacher—most
of whom are Florida's leading pastors;
• Each rally will feature an inspirational and gospel uplifting
music group;
• Each rally will emphasize your part in Florida Baptists'worldwide
missions emphasis; and
• Each rally will celebrate Florida Baptists'heritage of
hope and focus on the future.
What Must I Do?
Mark your calendar for the rally nearest you. Make a personal
commitment that you will make this event a priority of your
