Happy New Year! I hope and pray that your new year has started out great. We have been able to offer ESL training in several locations already this year. If you are in need of training please contact clentz@flbaptist.org for more information on how we can help. The web site should also post any training that will be offered throughout the year. Check for a location near you. There is a State TESOL Convention being held in Daytona Beach May 8-10. If you have any interest in attending, please go to www.sunshine-tesol.org for registration and information.

The planning has already begun for the State Conference in September of 2008. Make sure you mark your calendars and plan to attend. The dates are set for Sept. 11-13. We have been reviewing the comments and suggestions you offered from the 2007 conference. Please do not forget about the Lillian Isaac Ladle Award. We would like to honor those who have been such a blessing and inspiration to Literacy Missions this year. Also please send any testimonies, stories or good news about your ministry. It would be great to share it with others on our web page.

The International Learning Center in Jacksonville directed by Kim Carr has seen the impact of their ministry already this year. Several women accepted Christ after a Bible study and many relationships have been formed and are being nurtured in other religious backgrounds as well. The youngest heard the gospel in her class with the children from an illustration using a pumpkin and a candle explaining the light of Jesus on the inside. So many individuals are touched through Literacy Missions, not just our students sitting in the ESL classroom. We celebrate each one of these decisions with them! It’s so exciting to see and hear of God’s faithfulness as we partner with Him!

A few have sent in photos of new citizens as well and we welcome them into the family of US citizens!
