PRAYER/SPIRITUAL AWAKENING

"PrayerEveryWhere366"

“PrayerEveryWhere366” is a way to connect with your community as an individual church or a group of Churches. Simply put, it means Prayer Walking every street, home, school and business looking for connection points to every heart. It means sharing the love and claims of Christ and meeting needs as the Lord leads.

HERE’S HOW:

1. Map out your church field, neighborhoods, schools, businesses, parks, other churches, community centers, etc. Obtain a city or county map and look at each street, avenue, lane, court, circle, county road and highway.

2. Section out the community into walkable or drivable sections. For example, one Prayer Walk route could be 3 blocks down, one block over, and 3 blocks back. Another route could be a highway mile marker, apartment complex, elementary school, particular business area, shopping mall, or downtown area.

3. Get out by first getting ready. Train people in Prayer Walking. This is very simple and can be done in a very short time using a variety of materials.

To download the booklet “Prayer in Motion” go to Prayer Resources or order copies from our office.

You can also order Chris Schofield’s booklet “Prayer walking Made Simple,” from www.northcarolinabaptists.org.

To order a very practical and simple study of the “how-to’s” of Prayer Walking go to www.imb.org There you will find Randy Sprinkle’s “Follow Me: Becoming a Lifestyle Prayer Walker,” a six-week small group course in Prayer Walking all of life.

4. Schedule Out the times for Prayer Walking. This can be done any time. Some helpful times include a Saturday morning or afternoon or a Sunday afternoon. Any day or afternoon works, depending on your neighborhood or community. Be aware of traffic flow and patterns. Many take everyday exercise walks and turn those into Prayer Walks for neighbors and various needs.

5. Give Out the assignments for Prayer Walking. Some assignments will be for an all-church Prayer Walk scheduled on a certain day or days. Other assignments will be for those with flexible schedules who have several times available to cover several routes. For gated communities, ask the Lord for open doors through those who live there. Pray for someone from that community to become part of the ministries of your church.

6. Look out for needs as you Prayer Walk. Discover where people are and what they need. Ask God to sensitize you to connection points over which to pray. Look for ministry connection points for ministry to show the care of Christ. Look for divine appointments as you Prayer Walk and ask God to lead your church in seeing potential “ConnectHere — MissionHere366” open doors for evangelism and ministry events and opportunities.

7. Go out and Prayer Walk every street in your ministry area. It may take all 366 days or more. Pray for other churches nearby. Pray for their impact individually and influence with other churches in corporate Christian witness. Pray for every home, school and business in your area. Meet the people in your community by going where they are.
