The Summer Olympics will meet in London July 27-Aug. 12, 2012. Interest among Southern Baptists is already high and will surely rise. For the Olympics we are partnering with other Christian organizations in a group called "More Than Gold". More Than Gold is a world-wide sports ministry that came together for the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 and has led ministry at Olympic and World Cup events since. Participation in Olympic volunteer ministries will be a TEAM EVENT. Teams will consist of five to fifteen people. Smaller groups will need to come together to form a team while larger ones will need to divide. You will find more information on our Facebook page SBC More Than Gold 2012 or at morethangold.org.uk. When registration becomes available at the end of January 2011 both sites will have links to the page. Please contact Jane Trimm - Olympic Volunteer Support Team for more information at janein2012@gmail.com.
The Northwest Corner of Brazil is rich in culture, flora and animals. In the heart of the Amazon River, the region has some of the greatest opportunities for evangelism anywhere in the world. In 2005, Florida Baptists began to partner with the International Mission Board and the Brazilian Baptist Convention to focus on sharing the Gospel with the many individuals in this region who are open and responsive to hearing the message of Christ. Volunteers from Florida will be well received as they come to share the Good News of Jesus.

Haiti, like its neighbors in the Caribbean, is a contrast of colorful clothes, music and culture, juxtaposed against the rigors of poverty and political unrest. The people have a traditional spiritualistic religion that does not meet their innermost needs. When faced with the cross of Christ, they are often touched and changed dramatically. They are waiting for Christ's love in you, and the hope of salvation in the Savior.
