In personnel action during the State Board of Missions meeting September 21 the board elected two new State Convention employees.

Delton M. Beall of Scott Depot, W.V. was elected as team strategist for the Disaster Relief and Recovery Ministries Team. He will assume a position left vacant with the resignation of Fritz Wilson, who was recently named as executive director of The North American Mission Board Disaster Relief program.

Since 2008, Beall has served as director of missions for the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists. Prior to that, he served as church-planter missionary with the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia State Convention.

A native of Jackson, Miss., Beall, 58, received the bachelor of arts degree from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Miss.; and the master of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He and his wife are expected to reside in Jacksonville when he assumes his position Dec. 3.

Robert Beckman of Lakeland was elected as a Field Missionary for the Southwest Florida Region, Anglo Church Planting Team, effective immediately. He fills the position left vacant with the death of contract worker Nevi Townsend.

Beckman, 46, has served as pastor and church starter of the Go Church in Lakeland since 2006 and as a church planting contract strategist with the Convention since October 2007.

The Lake Park native and his wife, Juli, served as urban strategists with the SBC International Mission Board in Amsterdam from 2000 to 2005.

He will continue to reside in Lakeland
