JACKSONVILLE (FBC)—A Committee on Nominations composed of 29 pastors, 18 laypersons, and one associational director of missions has been appointed by the officers of the Florida Baptist State Convention. John Bozard, a member of First Baptist Church, Orlando, was named to chair the 49-member committee; and Greg Kell, pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Inverness, will serve as vice-chairman. The officers are in the process of identifying someone to represent the Ridge association.

The committee is made up of one member from each of the 49 associations in the state, plus three officers of the state convention who serve as ex officio members. The committee is responsible for nominating Florida Baptists to serve on the state convention’s boards, committees and commissions. Their nominations must be approved by messengers during the annual meeting of the Florida Baptist State Convention in November.

The committee will meet in Tampa on August 10, 2010.
